Busan Urban Corporation Provides On-Site Safety Training Through VR... Preventing Accidents at Small and Medium-Sized Construction Sites
11 Workers Participate at Dadae 3 District Permanent Rental Apartments
VR Simulations of Fall and Asphyxiation Accidents
Training on Safety Procedures for Working in Confined Spaces
Safety training that enables workers to experience actual accident scenarios through virtual reality and learn about potential hazards at construction sites was conducted at a construction site managed by Busan Urban Corporation.
Busan Urban Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) held a “Visiting Virtual Reality (VR) Safety Experience Training” on September 15 at the Dadae 3 District Permanent Rental Apartments to prevent industrial accidents and enhance safety awareness among workers at small and medium-sized construction sites.
This training was a hands-on safety program organized in cooperation with the Yeongnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Infrastructure Safety and Technology Corporation, aiming to help workers at small and medium-sized construction sites indirectly experience actual accident situations and recognize on-site hazards.
A total of 11 participants joined the training, including staff from the management office of the Dadae 3 District Permanent Rental Apartments and workers involved in fire pipe replacement construction.
During the session, participants shared data on accident occurrences and major cases of industrial disasters at construction sites, then experienced VR simulations of falls caused by not wearing safety harnesses and asphyxiation accidents that can occur while working in confined spaces.
The program also included education on essential safety procedures that must be checked before starting work, such as measuring for hazardous gases and ventilating when working in confined spaces.
In particular, the training went beyond simply introducing cases of industrial accidents by incorporating VR experiences to allow workers to recognize risks at construction sites more realistically and to truly sense the importance of complying with safety procedures.
Busan Urban Corporation plans to continue expanding safety training opportunities at small and medium-sized construction sites and to promote hands-on safety activities that allow on-site workers to participate and experience the risks directly.
