On September 18, just before the Chuseok holiday, Lee Chanjin, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, visited a traditional market with executives from financial companies to engage in a charitable activity for the underprivileged.
The Financial Supervisory Service announced that on this day, Governor Lee, along with executives from four financial firms—the Salvation Army Korea, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Kiwoom Securities, KB Insurance, and Shinhan Card—visited Bangsin Traditional Market in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
Attendees included Jang Minyoung, President of IBK Industrial Bank of Korea; Um Joosung, CEO of Kiwoom Securities; Koo Bonwook, CEO of KB Insurance; and Kim Youngil, Vice President of Shinhan Card.
The Financial Supervisory Service and the financial companies jointly raised 130 million won in donations, which were used to purchase daily necessities such as rice cakes, fruit, vegetables, and Onnuri gift certificates. These were then delivered to vulnerable community members and social welfare organizations.
Governor Lee personally purchased daily necessities at Bangsin Traditional Market and listened to the concerns of local merchants.
