NAVER Launches 'Place Agent' for Conversational Location Search and Reservations in Map App
Introducing AI-Powered Conversational Search Specialized for Location Exploration
On September 17, NAVER announced the launch of "Place Agent," an interactive location exploration solution that allows users to receive location recommendations and make reservations seamlessly through everyday conversations within the NAVER Map app.
Place Agent is an AI-powered conversational search feature specialized for location exploration. Based on users' conversational context and location information in the NAVER Map app, it recommends places and even assists with reservations.
Selecting the search bar within the NAVER Map app brings up an agent button on the right, which can be activated with a tap. Additionally, users are connected to the agent through recommended questions that appear within search results for "restaurants," or via the "Ask the AI Agent" button when no suitable search results are found.
For example, if a user enters specific requests such as "Recommend a bakery pilgrimage route in Seongsu-dong," "Find a quiet cafe in Yeonnam-dong that's good for reading alone on a rainy day," or "Recommend a convenient Korean restaurant in Yongin with parking, suitable for stopping by after visiting a cemetery," Place Agent will suggest an optimal list of locations.
It also supports a "multi-turn" conversation mode, allowing users to further specify their criteria and refine their search results based on the answers provided. For example, users can narrow down the list by asking additional questions like, "Which one of these is quiet?" Place Agent is available to logged-in users aged 14 and older, and a dedicated AI guidance message is always displayed with the agent's responses.
