'KoAct Optical Communication & Satellite Network Active' Ranked No. 1 in Weekly Returns Among Domestic Equity ETFs
Weekly Return of 3.03% Achieved
Wooriro Exclusively Included in the Portfolio
Samsung Active Asset Management announced on September 17 that its ‘KoAct Optical Communication & Satellite Network Active’ Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) ranked first in weekly returns among domestic equity ETFs, excluding leveraged and inverse products.
According to Samsung Active Asset Management, this ETF recorded a weekly return of 3.03% over the past week. Since its listing on July 14, its cumulative return has reached 17.21%.
The KoAct Optical Communication & Satellite Network Active ETF is a product that invests in domestic companies in the network infrastructure sector. Driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and increasing inference demand from AI agents, which highlight the need to upgrade network performance, the ETF focuses on network-related stocks such as optical communication and low-Earth orbit satellites, which are emerging as new bottlenecks.
The recent rally in global optical communication stocks has spilled over to Korean optical communication companies, contributing to the ETF's gains. As large-scale telecommunications infrastructure investments begin in the U.S., and with the move to phase out Chinese equipment, Korean companies are benefiting, serving as strong momentum for stock price growth.
Key portfolio holdings include RF Materials (12.17%), Wooriro (7.44%), Hanwha Aerospace (6.43%), Taihan Fiberoptics (5.77%), and Fiberpro (5.46%). Notably, Wooriro is a company specializing in optical distribution frames and optical diodes for optical communications, and KoAct Optical Communication & Satellite Network Active is the only domestic equity ETF to include it in its portfolio.
Additionally, RF Materials, which supplies optical communication equipment to the leading U.S. firm Lumentum, has the highest allocation in the KoAct Optical Communication & Satellite Network Active ETF among all ETFs. Taihan Fiberoptics, a leading optical cable company, also has the largest weighting among active ETFs.
Kim Hyosik, Team Leader of Portfolio Management 2 at Samsung Active Asset Management, said, “The optical communication infrastructure super-cycle, led by the U.S., is entering the early stage of growth. Korean optical communication and network companies are also starting to see significant trickle-down effects, with increased orders and improving business performance becoming more noticeable.”
