LG Electronics Employees Share Warmth at Disability Welfare Facility Ahead of Chuseok
"Life's Good Volunteer Group" Makes Songpyeon and Shares Holiday Spirit
Warmth Delivered Through Employee Cafeteria "Donation Menu" Fund
LG Electronics employees carried out meaningful sharing and neighborly volunteer work by visiting welfare facilities for people with disabilities ahead of Chuseok, the major Korean traditional holiday.
According to a statement on the 17th, the "Life's Good Volunteer Group," comprised of LG Electronics employees who participate voluntarily, visited the Yeomri Daycare Center for the Disabled in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 15th.
The volunteers prepared traditional Chuseok holiday food together with individuals with severe brain lesions who use the center, making songpyeon and cooking jeon. In addition, they gifted holiday rice cakes prepared in advance and enjoyed yutnori together, sharing the warm spirits of the holiday.
Since 2014, the LG Electronics Life's Good Volunteer Group has continued its heartfelt social contribution activities by partnering with this institution, which is affiliated with the Korea Social Welfare Society.
Notably, the expenses for this volunteer activity were covered using funds raised through "donation menu" items offered at LG Electronics’ employee cafeterias, adding special meaning. The donation menu allows employees to choose simplified meal options, and the price difference compared to regular menus is automatically accumulated as a donation. Since its introduction in 2011, the total amount of funds raised through this program has approached 300 million won.
