US ITC Launches Patent Infringement Investigation into Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Google
Samsung Electronics, Apple, Google, and others are under investigation by the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) for alleged patent infringement related to certain audio technologies.
On September 16 (local time), the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) announced that it had launched a patent infringement investigation into certain electronic devices equipped with specific audio technologies. The subjects of the investigation are Samsung Electronics and its U.S. subsidiary, Apple, and Google.
This investigation follows a complaint filed last month by BoomCloud 360, an audio technology company based in California. The company claims that these firms have violated Section 337 of the U.S. Tariff Act by importing and selling products in the United States that allegedly infringe its patents. BoomCloud 360 has requested the ITC to issue a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order against the products in question.

The ITC clarified, however, that the initiation of the investigation does not in itself constitute a determination regarding patent infringement. An administrative law judge will conduct an evidentiary hearing and make an initial determination regarding possible violations, after which the ITC will review and make a final decision.
