Currently, mobile carriers operate the ‘optional contract discount system,’ which provides a 25% discount on communication fees if users sign a contract with their carrier, instead of receiving an upfront device subsidy. The Commission explained that, other than this, there is no system where mobile carriers offer additional discounts on mobile phone charges.
The Commission also cautioned that messages about mobile plan discounts received via friends or group chats may be false information from unclear sources. It urged the public not to contact or consult with the phone numbers included in such messages.
