"2026 Pilot Project for Supporting Milk and Dairy Products for Seniors" Demonstrates Results with Increased Consumption and High Satisfaction
82.8% of Participating Seniors Report Increased Consumption; Satisfaction Among Increased Intake Group Reaches 99.0%
99.4% of Welfare Center Staff Say "Helpful for Health and Nutrition Management"; High Willingness to Use Domestic Milk in Meals Confirmed
The Korea Dairy Committee (Chairman: Lee Seungho) announced the results of the "2026 Pilot Project for Supporting Milk and Dairy Products for Seniors," confirming significant changes in actual consumption and a high level of satisfaction among participating seniors.
The Korea Dairy Committee, in collaboration with Gallup Korea, conducted a satisfaction survey targeting 468 participating seniors and 156 senior welfare center staff members. Overall satisfaction with the project among the seniors was reported to be 94.6%.
After participating in the project, 82.8% of respondents stated that the frequency or amount of milk and dairy product consumption had increased. Among the seniors whose consumption increased, satisfaction with the project reached 99.0%, which was higher than that of the overall respondents, indicating a positive correlation between actual consumption increases and higher satisfaction. Additionally, 95.7% expressed hope that the project would continue, showing that the vast majority of participating seniors recognize the need for and support the sustainability of the project.
Evaluations from welfare centers were also highly positive. Among the staff, 99.4% responded that the project contributed to seniors' health and nutrition management, and the overall satisfaction with project operation was 96.8%. There was also a high willingness to utilize domestic milk in future group meals or snacks, confirming the potential for the sustained use of domestic milk in welfare settings.
Regular support for milk and dairy products for seniors is expected not only to provide basic nutrition but also to synergize with public welfare services.
Based on these results, the Korea Dairy Committee plans to continue refining operational measures and to enhance the program by reflecting feedback from welfare sites.
Lee Seungho, Chairman of the Korea Dairy Committee, stated, "Through this survey, we were able to confirm a high level of satisfaction among seniors, an actual increase in consumption, and a consensus on the necessity of continuing the project. We hope that this pilot project will serve as an opportunity to expand into sustainable nutrition welfare policies, such as a public milk meal service."
