BGF Opens 260 Billion Won Busan Logistics Center... Expanding Overseas via Busan Port
127,000 Square Meters, Largest Investment in the Convenience Store Sector
"Export-Import Hub Linked to New Port, Base for Global Expansion"
A large-scale logistics center, constructed with an investment of 260 billion won in Busan, is set to open. BGF Retail, the operator of convenience store brand CU, has partnered with Busan New Port to create a logistics hub in Busan that connects domestic and international logistics.
On September 16, Busan Metropolitan City announced that a completion ceremony for the BGF Retail Busan Logistics Center will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the BGF Retail Busan Logistics Center located in Gureang-dong, Gangseo-gu.
The construction of the Busan Logistics Center was initiated after Busan attracted investment from BGF Retail in 2021. Construction began in 2024 and the center was completed in about two years, with a total investment of 260 billion won.
This is the largest investment BGF Retail has made in its logistics infrastructure and is also the largest in Korea's convenience store industry. The site covers over 47,000 square meters, with a total floor area of over 127,000 square meters. The facility consists of one basement level and four above-ground floors.
The center is more than just a logistics warehouse. It will function as the second central logistics center supplying goods nationwide, while also serving as a regional hub for logistics in the Busan and South Gyeongsang area. Additionally, it will operate as an export-import base linked to Busan New Port.
The center is equipped with automated facilities, reducing repetitive and physically demanding work to improve worker safety. It also features eco-friendly logistics infrastructure, including the installation of solar power generation facilities on the rooftop.
The facility will also serve as an advance base for expanding overseas business. Following its recent entry into Hawaii, BGF Retail is broadening its business presence to countries such as Mongolia and Kazakhstan, and has surpassed its 800th global store.
Busan Metropolitan City expects that the completion of this logistics center will not only create local jobs and contribute to the regional economy, but also strengthen the competitiveness of Busan’s logistics industry.
Jeon Jaesoo, Mayor of Busan, stated, "I hope the Busan Logistics Center will become a driving force to enhance the competitiveness of Busan’s maritime industries, including shipping, port, and logistics."
