Key participants in the signing ceremony included Seungwon Park, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Business Innovation Division, Jaeho Shin, Chairman of Sunkin Group, Hongje Park, Vice Chairman of Sunkin Group, Sungho Song, CEO of Hynet, Gyeyoung Hwang, Chairman of the Korea Automobile Environment Association, and Junggu Kang, Chairman of the Korea Natural Gas Hydrogen Charging Association.
This agreement aims to deploy hydrogen buses in advance on major metropolitan routes operated by Sunkin Group, and to support this, to expand the construction of charging infrastructure.
Sunkin Group is a major bus transportation group operating about 1,700 buses through 17 bus companies in the Seoul metropolitan and Honam regions. As part of this collaboration, Sunkin Group and its affiliates will promote the conversion of existing CNG charging stations in their bus garages located in Gimpo and Paju into hydrogen charging stations. In addition, the group plans to introduce a total of 480 hydrogen buses in phases by 2032.
Hynet will be responsible for establishing and operating large-capacity hydrogen charging stations on the designated bus garage sites, while the Korea Automobile Environment Association and the Korea Natural Gas Hydrogen Charging Association will respectively support the construction and activation of hydrogen charging infrastructure and the dissemination of innovative charging infrastructure models.
Hyundai Motor Company plans to provide hydrogen buses to Sunkin Group in a timely manner and support specialized maintenance training for hydrogen buses, thereby contributing to the creation of a stable operational environment.
Previously, Hyundai Motor signed hydrogen bus transition agreements with major transportation groups such as KD Transportation Group and K1 Mobility. By signing this business agreement with Sunkin Group, Hyundai Motor aims to actively lead the shift to hydrogen mobility in metropolitan public transportation.
