The symposium covered key infectious diseases—including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants, meningococcal disease, and pertussis—by sharing the latest clinical evidence and real-world medical experiences, and by discussing prevention strategies that can be utilized in clinical settings.
On the first day of the event, Professor Kim Yoonkyung from Korea University Ansan Hospital served as chair and presented the latest perspectives on RSV prevention in infants. This was followed by Professor Lee Hyunjoo from Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Professor Yoon Yoonsun from Korea University Guro Hospital, who highlighted the importance of RSV prevention in infants and practical considerations for clinical practice based on accumulated experience and the latest guidelines.
On the second day, Lim Hyuntaek, President of the Korean Pediatric Association, chaired a session focused on the prevention of meningococcal disease and pertussis. Professor Han Miseon from Seoul Boramae Hospital and Professor Choi Joonsik from Gangnam Severance Hospital discussed the importance of prevention against these diseases in the face of an evolving infectious disease landscape, and shared vaccination strategies and practical applications for clinical settings.
Lee Seungho, Director of Teunteun Pediatrics Clinic in Buk-gu, Daegu, who attended the event, stated, "Through this symposium, I was able to extensively review up-to-date prevention strategies for infectious diseases such as RSV, meningococcal disease, and pertussis, which are pivotal concerns in clinical practice. Not only did we learn about the latest clinical evidence, but we also heard about real-world experiences and practical applications, which I expect will greatly assist in future patient care and vaccination counseling."
