Goldman Sachs Raises Private Equity Funds Worth Approximately KRW 16 Trillion
Global investment bank Goldman Sachs has raised a total of USD 11.7 billion (approximately KRW 15.9 trillion) in private equity funds.
On September 15, Goldman Sachs announced that it had completed the final closing for its flagship buyout fund in the alternative investment business, "West Street Capital Partners IX (WSCP IX)", along with related investment vehicles in its private equity division.
WSCP IX was established with USD 9.6 billion (approximately KRW 13.05 trillion). In addition, the Asia-Pacific-focused private equity fund "West Street Asia Equity Partners I (WSAEP I)" raised more than USD 1.6 billion (approximately KRW 2.175 trillion), and associated co-investment vehicles secured USD 500 million (KRW 679.7 billion).
The investment targets of WSCP IX are high-quality mid-sized companies that can be acquired through buyouts, with a focus on the United States and Europe. The fund has already invested in U.S. cybersecurity firm Shelman, sports management company Excel Sports, European medical device manufacturer Numantech, and project management firm Mace, among others.
Brad Gross, Global Co-Head of Private Equity within Goldman Sachs’ Alternative Investments division, stated, "We will leverage our global network and expertise to identify differentiated investment opportunities and accelerate value creation for our portfolio companies."
