Emart Gunsan Branch Transformed After 25 Years... Jeonbuk's First Starfield Market Opens
Strengthening Grocery Shopping Capabilities
Expanded into a 16,509-Square-Meter Lifestyle-Oriented Store Combining Shopping, Dining, Culture, and Relaxation
The Emart Gunsan branch will be newly reopened as the first "Starfield Market" in the Jeonbuk region.
Emart announced on September 16 that it will renovate its Gunsan store in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, and reopen it as "Starfield Market Gunsan Branch" on September 17. Opened in 2001, the Gunsan branch aims to strengthen its competitiveness for grocery shopping through this renovation, while also expanding its shopping, dining, cultural, and relaxation offerings for families.
The sales area has increased by approximately 990 square meters, bringing the total to 16,509 square meters (about 4,994 pyeong). On the first floor, the Emart store expanded its grocery section—including fresh and processed foods—by 10%. It also created specialized zones of around 165 square meters each for the “No Brand” and “5K Price” concepts. A new liquor specialty store, “Wine & Liquor,” has been introduced, and in November, an ultra-low-price general goods store called “Wow Shop” will also open.
On the second floor, a space of about 628 square meters was created for rest and experience, including the “Book Ground” reading and relaxation area and the “Kids Ground” play and activity space for children. In addition, the Kids Center's cultural programs have been expanded by 20% compared to before.
The number of shopping and dining brands has also increased. New brands such as “Modern House,” “Olive Young,” “ABC Mart,” and “Hygge Bookstore” have set up shop, and F&B brands such as “Shima Sushi,” “Sol Sot,” “Shaboten,” and “Mad for Garlic” (opening in October) will be introduced for the first time in the Jeonbuk region.
In celebration of the reopening, kids’ performances will be held on September 17, 19, and 20. At Emart, key items such as Korean beef, pork belly, marinated bulgogi, grapes, and eggs will be available at discounts of up to 50% until September 23. Additional discounts and promotional events by brand have also been planned.
An Emart representative stated, “Emart Gunsan Branch has grown together with the local community for the past 25 years and has been newly renovated as a Starfield Market that now includes shopping, F&B, culture, and relaxation. We will continue to strengthen the shopping experience and strive to become a ‘lifestyle-oriented space’ that is closely connected to the daily lives of Gunsan citizens.”
