KDIC Shares Expertise in Resolving Failed Financial Institutions and Asset Recovery with 26 Countries
The Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) will share its experience in resolving failed financial institutions and asset recovery with executives and employees of deposit insurance agencies from around the world.
The KDIC announced that it will hold the "12th KDIC Global Training Program" from September 15 to 17 at its headquarters in Seoul and the Global Training Center in Chungju. Launched in 2017, this year's 12th event will be attended by 45 executives and employees from deposit insurance agencies in 26 countries across four regions: Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
The training program, themed "Resolution of Failed Financial Institutions and Asset Recovery," will include special lectures by external experts, practical lectures delivered by KDIC personnel, and presentations by participants on their own deposit insurance systems. On the first day, following a special lecture on global knowledge sharing by the World Bank Seoul Center for Finance & Innovation, there will be an introduction to Korea's deposit insurance system and a review of case studies of failed financial institution resolution.
On the second day, the KDIC will share its achievements in public financial education, and the Single Resolution Board (SRB), responsible for the resolution of failed banks within the European Banking Union, will deliver a remote lecture on Europe's system for resolving failed financial institutions. Participants will also present on their own countries' deposit insurance systems and operational experiences.

On the final day, the KDIC will share the expertise and know-how it has accumulated over the past 30 years, covering everything from developing resolution plans for failed financial institutions to conducting liability investigations and recovering non-performing assets.
The KDIC, in collaboration with Chungju City, will also run regionally integrated programs, including Hanbok experiences and sampling and purchasing local specialties. Participants will have opportunities to experience Korean culture through visits to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village.
