View original imageThe Korea Culture Information Service Agency (Director: Jung Unhyun, hereafter referred to as KCISA) has launched an official YouTube channel to introduce the Cultural Expense Income Deduction system to the public in an easy and entertaining way, and has also released a new character called 'Mundeuki.'
KCISA plans to use its official YouTube channel to continue promoting the system to the public through a variety of content formats, including short-form videos and entertainment-style programs. Through these efforts, information about how to use the Cultural Expense Income Deduction, eligible expenses, and key benefits will be delivered in an accessible and engaging way, helping people feel more connected to the system in their daily lives.
'Mundeuki,' the Cultural Expense Income Deduction fairy born from receipts and tickets
The newly introduced official character 'Mundeuki' is described as a “Cultural Expense Income Deduction fairy” born from receipts, tickets, and barcodes. Mundeuki's role is to intuitively and familiarly inform people that spending on cultural activities can lead to year-end tax deduction benefits.
The design of 'Mundeuki' reflects the characteristics of the deduction program. The character features a perforated line and barcode pattern reminiscent of performance and exhibition tickets, and wears a purple cape to highlight its identity as a fairy promoting the benefits of the system. Going forward, 'Mundeuki' will serve as a mascot throughout all promotional efforts related to the Cultural Expense Income Deduction, including on YouTube, social networks, and both online and offline marketing materials.
Additionally, on September 14, a new video content program titled 'Mundeuk! Talk Show'—featuring broadcasters Kim Min-kyung and Kim Il-jung—was released.
'Mundeuk! Talk Show' is an entertainment-style program that naturally discusses cultural activities and consumption, while explaining the main points and addressing questions about the system. The character Mundeuki appears alongside the hosts, providing key information and adding to the viewer experience. Beginning with this talk show, KCISA plans to release further content—such as short-form videos—in succession.
By using entertaining program formats and an intuitive fairy character, KCISA is significantly lowering barriers to understanding tax deduction benefits, which might otherwise seem complex.
