The National IR Event 'Korea Premium Week' to Be Held for Three Weeks
Opening on September 28
Integrated Event Featuring Corporate IR Sessions and Conferences
The largest capital market IR event in Korea, 'Korea Premium Week', will be held for three weeks starting at the end of this month. This event brings together corporate IR sessions and conferences, which have previously been held sporadically by different institutions, to maximize synergy and promote the global competitiveness of the Korean market.
The Financial Services Commission announced on September 15 that Korea Premium Week will be held from September 28 to October 16 at venues such as The Grand Lotte Seoul and the Korea Exchange Seoul headquarters. Korea Premium Week, being held for the first time this year, is jointly hosted by the Financial Services Commission and the Korea Exchange, with a total of 42 institutions related to the securities market, financial investment industry, and 55 listed companies participating, making it the largest capital market IR event in Korea.
The slogan for this year is 'Gateway to Asia's Most Dynamic Capital Market'. Throughout approximately 25 relay events spanning three weeks, the aim is to introduce the Korean capital market to global investors and discuss key issues such as capital market reform, corporate governance, and the foreign exchange market.
The event will be divided into the core week (week 1) and subsequent weeks (weeks 2–3). The core week, from September 28 to October 2, features the opening ceremony, a global conference, IR sessions for leading listed Korean companies, and activities for individual investors. The opening ceremony on September 28 is expected to host major figures from global financial institutions, including the Commissioner of Japan's Financial Services Agency, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq, S&P, the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA), and Vanguard.
The conference will address topics such as capital market reform, improvement of corporate governance, foreign exchange market reform, advancement of capital market infrastructure, strengthening the competitiveness of the KOSDAQ, and strategies for the qualitative growth of the exchange-traded products (ETP) market. Briefing sessions for major listed companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Samsung Biologics, Doosan Enerbility, Hanwha Aerospace, Shinhan Financial Group, and Robotis will be held, as well as one-on-one meetings with domestic and international institutional investors. There will also be a closed-door roundtable with domestic and overseas pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and over ten major global long-only and hedge funds.
Programs for individual investors will also be provided. On September 30, a series of seminars will be held featuring Oh Kyunyoung, head of Shinhan Premier Pathfinder, YouTuber YeomBly (Seunghwan Yeom, director at Ebest Investment & Securities), Sungil Kim, director at Uprize Investment Advisory, and Kim Dongyeop, managing director at Mirae Asset Investment and Pension Center. The seminars will cover topics ranging from asset building for young people to lifecycle asset management and pension investment strategies for retirement. Promotional booths will be operated to offer investors information on Korean companies and financial investment products.
The following weeks will feature additional programs. During week 2 (October 6 to 8), growth companies listed on KOSDAQ and KONEX will be featured. Seminars to strengthen the competitiveness of the KOSDAQ, IR sessions for KONEX and KOSDAQ-listed companies, and policy seminars to vitalize the venture exit market will be held.
In week 3, private financial companies such as securities firms and asset management firms will conduct IR sessions for investors, market outlooks, and strategy seminars. On October 15, the Korea Financial Investment Association, Korea Securities Finance Corporation, and Korea Securities Depository will co-host a global bond forum to discuss trends in the domestic and international bond markets as well as securities lending and borrowing by foreign investors in Korean government bonds.
A Financial Services Commission official stated, "Until now, IR and conferences related to the Korean capital market have been promoted sporadically by individual institutions, dispersing the attention of domestic and overseas institutional investors and limiting the comprehensive delivery of the overall competitiveness of the Korean market," and expressed, "We expect this will become an international platform to discuss key issues of the Korean capital market with both domestic and international investors and present a vision for the future."
