HK Accelerates Expansion into Japan... Launches Official Sales of Locally Tailored FL2512 Machine
HK, a leading domestic laser processing machine company, is accelerating its entry into the Japanese market. Following a soft launch of its locally developed laser processing machine, the FL2512—tailored to suit local manufacturing environments and customer demands—last year, the company has now transitioned to official sales. HK also plans to strengthen its sales and service competitiveness, establishing bases in Nagoya and Kyushu.
On September 15, HK announced that it had officially begun sales of the FL2512, a laser processing machine customized for the Japanese market.
The FL2512 was developed in response to the specific requirements of Japanese manufacturers, with adjustments in size, performance, and other features. After the soft launch in the local market last year, HK monitored actual sales to gauge market response and has switched to full-scale sales this year.
Japan is known for its strong preference for domestic manufacturers, creating significant barriers for overseas equipment makers to enter the market. Despite these unique market dynamics, HK believes that ongoing sales of locally customized equipment demonstrate the competitiveness of its products.
Sales of the FL2512 have continued this year, following last year's performance. According to HK, it has sold and supplied two units to local Japanese companies so far in 2026. The company attributes this success to the consistent recognition of the equipment’s performance, quality, and price competitiveness in the local market.
Another focus is expanding its sales presence in Japan. In 2025, HK established a Japanese branch at the KOTRA Center in Nagoya, formalizing its local sales activities. Nagoya is a key manufacturing hub with a concentration of finished vehicle manufacturers such as Toyota, as well as related parts suppliers. HK aims to expand customer touchpoints and discover new demand through its Nagoya branch.
In the Kyushu region, the company is ramping up sales by participating in exhibitions and leveraging industry networks. In July, HK took part in the "Western Japan Manufacturing Technology Innovation 2026" held in Fukuoka, promoting its products and technological capabilities to manufacturers in the Kyushu area.
As a result of the exhibition, HK built networks with the Kyushu Machine Tool Association and the sheet metal processing industry, and established a new customer database primarily in the sheet metal and shipbuilding sectors. The company is also conducting follow-up activities to convert the potential customers identified at the exhibition into actual sales opportunities.
HK is also reinforcing its service capabilities. The company is expanding sales and maintenance support for Japanese customers through the "HK Busan-Kyushu Satellite Office." By linking the Nagoya branch with the Kyushu support base, HK aims to enhance its responsiveness throughout the local sales and after-sales process.
An HK representative stated, "Since the soft launch of the FL2512 last year, we have witnessed positive market feedback, and this year, we have already sold and supplied two units to local companies. Given that Japan is a challenging market for overseas equipment makers, maintaining strong sales results for two consecutive years shows that our equipment's competitiveness is being recognized locally."
