Ten Task Forces to Operate from September 24 to 27
Pre-Holiday Safety Inspections at 24 Multi-Use Facilities
365 Civil Service Center to Remain Open
Seogu District in Gwangju-Jeonnam Integrated Metropolitan City will implement a 'Comprehensive Plan for Resident Life Stability' during the Chuseok holiday, encompassing 31 initiatives in areas such as disaster and safety, environment, and healthcare. Before the holiday, the district will inspect vulnerable areas and multi-use facilities, and from September 24 to 27, it will operate an integrated situation room for four days to respond to incidents, accidents, and civil complaints.
Seogu will first focus on repairing roads and improving the pedestrian environment. In order to address residents' inconvenience caused by delayed mowing of some walkways due to the heatwave, weed removal will be carried out by Chuseok at 10 locations, including Marukbokgae-ro. Maintenance of city sidewalks will also be intensified.
Joint public-private safety inspections will be conducted at 24 multi-use facilities, including movie theaters, traditional markets, and passenger terminals. These inspections will examine major structural components, electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as fire safety systems, in order to prevent accidents amid increased visitor numbers during the holiday.
Traffic management measures will focus on areas with heavy foot traffic, such as Gwangcheon Terminal and Yangdong Market. The district will guide vehicles hindering traffic flow and enforce regulations against illegal parking on main and secondary roads. Seogu plans to cooperate with Seobu Police Station and the Model Drivers' Association.
Comprehensive cleaning operations will be conducted by neighborhood in key urban areas and places especially vulnerable to litter. The district will collect illegally dumped waste along alleys and backstreets, and introduce a special work system for sanitation workers and street cleaning vehicles to address cleaning-related civil complaints during the holiday. Street vendors, unauthorized street occupation, and illegal advertisements are also subject to these improvement measures.
During the holiday, the integrated situation room will have 10 task forces in place, including cleaning, park management, environmental pollution, traffic, disaster response, advertising, healthcare, sanitation, and 365-civil service. Any civil complaints or disaster and safety issues will be quickly relayed to relevant departments for prompt action.
Support for vulnerable groups and medical response will also be strengthened. Welfare services will check in on recipients of customized care for the elderly and emergency safety service beneficiaries, as well as identify and support at-risk households not currently receiving social assistance. Through the emergency medical situation room, information will be provided on medical institutions and pharmacies that will remain open during the holiday, and efforts to prevent infectious diseases and food poisoning, as well as facility sanitation, will continue in multi-use venues.
Civil document issuance services will remain available. Nineteen unmanned kiosks and the 365 Civil Service Center on the first floor of Lotte Mart Max in Sangmu District will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Inquiries related to the issuance of documents such as resident registration certificates, certified copies, seals, and family relationship certificates can be made at the 365 Civil Service Center.
