KOSPI Moves Sideways After Falling at Open Despite Foreign and Institutional Selling
KOSDAQ Posts Gains
The domestic stock market is fluctuating in early trading due to simultaneous selling by foreign and institutional investors.
As of 9:25 a.m. on September 15, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) was trading at 6,679.38, down 4.99 points (0.07%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,659.25, a decrease of 25.12 points (0.38%) compared to the previous session.
Foreign investors and institutional investors recorded net sales of 252.1 billion won and 192 billion won, respectively, while individual investors recorded net purchases of 347.6 billion won.
By industry, most sectors were declining with the exception of medical and precision equipment (up 1.38%), electrical and electronics (up 0.99%), and manufacturing (up 0.5%). Transportation equipment and parts were down 1.91%, while transportation and warehousing (down 1.64%), insurance (down 1.6%), and retail (down 1.52%) also fell.

HD Hyundai fell by 5.4%, with Hanwha Aerospace down 5%, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering down 4.4%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries down 4%, Samsung Heavy Industries down 3.8%, HD Hyundai Electric down 3.5%, Hanwha Ocean and Hyosung Heavy Industries each down 2.7%, Samsung Life Insurance down 2.5%, and Korea Zinc down 2.4%. In contrast, Samsung SDI rose 2%, SK Innovation gained 2%, LG Electronics was up 1.9%, and both Samsung Electronics and SK hynix increased by 1% and 1.3%, respectively.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 813.28, up 6.49 points (0.8%) from the previous session. The index had opened at 806.79, down 0.3 points (0.04%) compared to the previous session. Foreign and institutional investors posted net sales of 34.9 billion won and 3.3 billion won, respectively, while individual investors recorded net purchases of 36.3 billion won.

The top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization were also mixed. WooreeTech fell by 5.9%, with Korea Optical Cable down 2.9%, Jusung Engineering down 2.1%, and Eugene Technology down 2%. On the other hand, SPG rose 12.9%, with Olix up 9.2%, PSK Holdings up 7.4%, Wonik Holdings up 7%, and Robotics up 6%.
