Shipping Association: "Seven Iran Hormuz Sanctioned Vessels Not Owned by Korea Line"
Additional Sanctions List Announced on September 14 Following August
All Confirmed to Be Foreign-Owned Vessels
It has been confirmed that none of the vessels operated by Korea Line Corporation are included in the list of sanctions targets for the Strait of Hormuz, as announced by Iranian authorities.
On September 15, the Korea Shipping Association stated that it had verified the facts regarding the vessels subject to unilateral sanctions in the Strait of Hormuz, as announced by the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) of Iran.
Previously, on August 24, the PGSA announced a list of 45 sanctioned vessels, and on September 14, the total number of sanctioned ships was expanded to 77.
According to the confirmation obtained by the association from a Korea Line Corporation official, all seven ships—five that had been on the August 24 list and two additional vessels announced the previous day—are 100% owned by foreign shipowners. Janggeum Maritime, an affiliate of Korea Line Corporation, stated that it does not hold real ownership rights over these vessels.

A representative of the association explained, "None of these ships have Korean seafarers on board; their crews are entirely composed of foreign nationals." The association further confirmed, "The vessels are currently being operated under charter agreements with overseas oil companies."
