Kumho Tire is aiming to have its Hampyeong factory, located in the Bitgreen Industrial Complex in Hampyeong County, South Jeolla Province, operational by the first half of 2028. The facility will serve as a high-tech manufacturing hub dedicated to producing tires for high-performance vehicles, electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles. The first phase will have a daily production capacity of 15,000 tires, translating to 5.3 million tires annually.
On the 15th, Kumho Tire announced that Nam-oh Lee, the governor of Hampyeong County, visited the Hampyeong factory construction site on the 14th to inspect the progress of the project. The visit was arranged to support the plant’s establishment and to emphasize the importance of on-site safety management.

View original imageThe visit was attended by Ho-gil Hwang, Head of Safety Production Innovation at Kumho Tire, and Young-mo Jung, Director of the Hampyeong Factory Construction Team. After holding a meeting with the governor and his delegation, Kumho Tire representatives provided a briefing at the construction site. Director Jung explained the company’s business status, the construction timeline for the Hampyeong factory, and the details of various processes.
Governor Lee stated, “We will provide full administrative support to ensure that the Hampyeong factory is completed smoothly, successfully integrated, and able to foster mutual growth with the local community. I also ask that special attention be paid to safety management.”
Head Hwang expressed his gratitude for the administrative support from Hampyeong County, saying, “Construction of the Hampyeong factory will proceed with safety as the highest priority, as it will become a key production base ensuring the future competitiveness of Kumho Tire and a driving force for the local economy.”
