Jeong Jeomsik: "Kim Seungwon, Dissolving People Power Party as Unconstitutional? Try It If You Dare"
Jeong Jeomsik, floor leader of the People Power Party, responded on September 15 to Ministry of Justice Minister nominee Kim Seungwon's remarks that he would consider requesting a review for the dissolution of the People Power Party as an unconstitutional party, saying, "If you think you can do it, go ahead and try." He criticized this as "a sly tactic to shift the frame to a confrontation between factions, simply because it would be difficult for him to explain his own disqualifications."

Each and every allegation—including extramarital affair lobbying, stock price manipulation, and involvement in a family cooperative—is grotesque. He is not qualified to be a minister, let alone a member of the National Assembly."
Regarding the ruling party's apparent defense of nominee Kim, Jeong remarked, "Who ever asked for a saint to be appointed as minister?" and added, "If someone is to be Minister of Justice, at the very least there should not be a cloud of scandalous crimes. But in Kim's case, every time you wake up, more shocking allegations overflow like a bottomless pot."
He continued, "The reason President Lee Jaemyung and the Democratic Party are insisting on nominee Kim, despite all these numerous allegations and despite such extreme moves, is clear. Kim, after all, is someone who grants requests without hesitation. If the president were to order a dismissal of criminal charges for himself, Kim would likely comply without question."

Floor leader Jeong added, "The more President Lee struggles to escape the law, the more trials he will have to face. If, even now, he does not withdraw Kim’s nomination and pushes ahead with the appointment, the approval rating of 30% will drop to 20%, and a lame duck will become a ‘dead duck.’"
