180 Oak Trees Planted for Urban Forest Development

View original image"Happiness Sharing Forest Cultivation" is a participatory environmental social contribution activity in which members and their families of SK Securities plant trees themselves and share the value of forests. Starting in 2019, the initiative is now in its seventh year, continuously advancing urban forest development and ecosystem conservation.
On this day, the participants planted 180 oak trees in the Noeul Park area. It is known that one oak tree absorbs approximately 30.12 kg of carbon dioxide per year. Should all 180 newly planted trees grow successfully, they are expected to collectively absorb approximately 5.4 tons of carbon dioxide per year, helping to reduce carbon emissions. Oak trees not only absorb carbon but also provide acorns and habitats, contributing to the formation of forest ecosystems that support diverse wildlife.
This year’s event also included an ecological education program in which employees’ children participated directly. The children learned about invasive plants and biodiversity, and experienced the importance of ecosystem conservation firsthand by shaping oak and Cnidium seeds into balls with soil and tossing them into the forest as part of the "Seed Pongdang" activity.
