Eugene Investment & Securities Donates 400 Trees to Noeul Park After Achieving Walking Challenge
Eugene Investment & Securities has continued its commitment to environmental protection and social contribution by donating 400 trees to Seoul Noeul Park through a staff walking challenge.
On September 15, Eugene Investment & Securities announced that, as part of its ESG management practices, it had donated 400 trees to the Noeul Park Citizen Community. This donation was made in recognition of the company’s achievement of its internal walking challenge, “Let’s walk together with Eugene in Spring,” conducted during the first half of the year.
This campaign was designed to promote both environmental protection in response to the climate crisis and employees’ health. The program committed to donating trees if the total number of steps taken by participating employees reached a pre-set goal.
Nearly 600 employees participated in the challenge, which ran for about a month from April 20 to May 17. The cumulative number of steps reached 115.61 million, surpassing the original target of 100 million steps. As a result, Eugene Investment & Securities donated 400 trees to Noeul Park.
On September 11, a donation ceremony was held at the tree nursery in Noeul Park, Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, with representatives from both Eugene Investment & Securities and the Noeul Park Citizen Community in attendance. On that day, the Noeul Park Citizen Community presented Eugene Investment & Securities with a plaque of appreciation, expressing gratitude for the “Eugene Forest” project, now in its 13th consecutive year.
Eugene Investment & Securities began creating “Eugene Forest” in Noeul Park in 2014 to mark its 60th anniversary. The company planted a variety of tree species capable of thriving in the park’s harsh soil—once a landfill site—and currently, more than 1,000 trees are growing in an area of 2,500 pyeong. Each year, employees also volunteer to visit the park and help nurture the forest in person.
Since 2011, Eugene Investment & Securities has made “social contribution” a core management policy, carrying out a range of activities including establishing Eugene Forest and supporting a matching fund. Since 2023, the company has introduced a “voluntary participation volunteer program,” allowing employees to select the volunteer activities they wish, thereby increasing participation rates.
This year, employees are engaging in a diverse range of activities, including tending Eugene Forest, serving meals at homeless shelters and local children’s centers, supporting art activities for colleagues with disabilities, producing hopeful furniture for low-income households, and creating audiobook fairy tales for children with disabilities.
