Star players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour will be making prominent appearances at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
According to the tournament organizing committee on September 15, China has listed world No. 5 Yin Ruoning, along with Liu Yan and Zhang Weiwei, as participants. Yin Ruoning is a powerhouse with six career victories on the LPGA Tour. She has been on a sharp upward trajectory, having captured the FM Championship title on August 31 by defeating Kim Hyo-joo by two strokes. This year, she has entered the top 10 seven times, including one victory on the LPGA Tour.

View original imageLiu Yan is also highly skilled. Since joining the LPGA Tour in 2023, she has consistently performed well, including a tie for third at the Meijer LPGA Classic this June. Zhang Weiwei is known for her outstanding track record, becoming the first player ever to win four tournaments in a single season on the China LPGA (CLPGA) Tour in 2019. This season, she has played in 19 LPGA Tour events and finished runner-up at the Blue Bay LPGA in March.
Thailand is represented by Arpichaya Yubol, ranked 84th in the world. She was runner-up three times in the LPGA Tour this season. In particular, she narrowly missed out on a title at last month’s Portland Classic, finishing just one stroke behind world No. 2 Atthaya Thitikul—also from Thailand.
Taiwan will be represented by former world No. 1 Yani Tseng. With 13 LPGA Tour victories, including four majors, she is a highly accomplished player. However, since May 2012, she has struggled with poor performance, a hip injury, and putting yips. This season, she appeared in 10 LPGA Tour events and made the cut in two. Another noteworthy athlete from Taiwan is Wei-Ling Hsu, who won the 2021 Pure Silk Championship on the LPGA Tour.

Korea will not include any professional players. Instead, three amateur golfers—Park Seojin (Seomun Girls’ High School), Kim Kyubin (Haksan Girls’ High School), and Yang Yunseo (Incheon Yeobuseol Bangtong High School)—will compete. The Asian Games golf competition will be held from September 30 to October 3, featuring a 72-hole stroke play format. It will award a total of four gold medals across men’s and women’s individual and team events.
