Han has released a recorded phone call and investigative materials, claiming that on October 12, 2021, nominee Kim received a request from Mr. Yang, who was identified as a "broker," to expedite clinical trial approval for Genencell's COVID-19 treatment. Kim then reportedly conveyed the request to Kim Ganglip, the head of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety at the time.

Kim, however, denies the allegations, stating that he only conveyed the company's difficulties to the drug agency chief as part of supporting domestic drug development aimed at preventing capital flight. Additionally, Kim has questioned whether the investigative materials released by Han were obtained through proper legal channels. The National Assembly's confirmation hearing for Kim Seungwon is scheduled for the 15th.
