The Blue House stated on the 13th that it believes Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee Yong Hyein made a voluntary decision to resign in order to reduce the burden on state affairs and the livelihoods of the people.

Nominee Yong said the resignation was linked to a request from the ruling party. She stated, "I was informed by the Democratic Party of Korea that given the lack of broad public consensus on holding both the proportional representative lawmaker position and the ministerial post concurrently, I should make a decision," she said.
