83,308 Apply for Gachon University's Early Admissions... Ranks First Nationwide for Early Applicants for Three Consecutive Years
On September 11, Gachon University announced that for the 2027 academic year early admissions, a total of 83,308 applicants competed for 3,246 available spots, recording an average competition ratio of 25.7 to 1. Notably, the university ranked first nationwide for the number of applicants in early admissions for the third consecutive year.
For the College of Medicine's pre-medical essay-based admissions, 2,777 applicants competed for 6 spots, resulting in a competition ratio of 462.8 to 1, which was also the highest number of applicants for this pathway for the second straight year.
In the College of Pharmacy's essay-based admissions, 2,081 applicants competed for 6 spots, with a ratio of 346.8 to 1, while the College of Korean Medicine's pre-medical essay-based admissions had 1,794 applicants competing for 7 spots, resulting in a high ratio of 256.3 to 1.
The competition ratios for key tracks were: 35.3 to 1 for the Gachon Pharmaceutical Science Track (pre-medical), 36 to 1 for the Rural Area (academic record) Track (pre-medical), 45.6 to 1 for the Gachon Pharmaceutical Science Track (pharmacy), and 17.7 to 1 for the Academic Excellence Track (Korean pre-medical).
The main competition ratios by admission type were: 45.2 to 1 for essay-based admissions, 11.6 to 1 for the Academic Excellence Track, 16.6 to 1 for the Regional Balance Track, and 27.7 to 1 for the Gachon Windmill Track.
In particular, the essay-based admissions track saw an increase of 4,886 applicants over the previous year's figure of 41,942, with 46,828 applicants this year, raising the competition ratio from 41.6 to 1 to 45.2 to 1.
