'Justice Minister Nominee' Kim Seungwon Admits to Falsifying Children's Residency for 'Educational Purposes...Apologizes'
Kim Seungwon, the nominee for Minister of Justice, has been found to have a history of falsifying the residential registrations of his underage children in the past.
According to legal sources on September 11, Kim's eldest daughter and eldest son reported moving into Apartment A in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province in February 2006, when they were 9 and 6 years old, respectively.
A week later, Kim's wife and their second daughter, who was two years old at the time, reported moving into Apartment B, owned by Kim's spouse, in Sinheung-dong, Sujeong-gu, Seongnam. Apartment B is about 10 kilometers away from Apartment A.
Subsequently, in October 2008, Kim and his wife and the second daughter moved to Apartment A, which was the address of the eldest daughter and son. According to the resident registration records, the two young children were registered as living separately from their parents for about 2 years and 8 months. Seohyeon-dong, where Apartment A is located, is known for its prestigious school district in Bundang.
