Myrealtrip to Acquire Creatrip, Subsidiary Integration Set for This Year
Full-Scale Entry Into the Inbound Market
Expanding Coverage Across the Entire Travel Sector
Myrealtrip is set to acquire the inbound travel platform Creatrip. On September 11, Myrealtrip announced that its board of directors had approved the acquisition of shares in Creatrip, and the company plans to complete the remaining procedures to make Creatrip a subsidiary by the end of this year.
Following its strategic investment in 2024, Myrealtrip will acquire all remaining shares of Creatrip, and the company will be incorporated as a subsidiary through a stock swap.
Until now, Myrealtrip has mainly focused on outbound travel from Korea and domestic travel (intrabound trips). Once this acquisition is completed, the company will expand its business scope to include inbound travel by foreigners coming to Korea, thereby covering the entire travel sector.
Creatrip, established in 2016, is a domestic inbound tourism platform that provides foreign visitors to Korea with travel content and activities, and connects them to reservations by partnering with local businesses. As of April of this year, it had 1.7 million monthly users, ranked number one for usage in Taiwan, and number two in the United States and Japan.
During the acquisition process, both services will continue to operate as usual.
Lee Dogeon, CEO of Myrealtrip, stated, "Myrealtrip's mission has been to realize a ‘seamless travel experience.’ The needs of travelers are not significantly different, whether they are going abroad, traveling domestically, or visiting Korea from overseas. With this acquisition, we will cover all three directions, growing into a platform that connects the entire journey of domestic and international travelers."
