Busan Office of Education to Operate the "3rd Parent Academy Plus" Program
Customized Education Tailored to Developmental Stages Until November 20
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is introducing customized parent education programs that provide information tailored to each stage of child development and improve convenience for parental participation.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) will operate the “3rd Parent Academy Plus” from October 12 to November 20, aiming to strengthen parents’ competency in education and help them establish appropriate values in child-rearing.
This third session focuses on improving accessibility and convenience for parents. The elementary and middle school courses are offered from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., while the high school and Dalbit (Moonlight) courses are held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., allowing parents to participate according to their child’s school level and their own lifestyle conditions by providing two different time slots.
In particular, the number of participants for the "Dalbit Parent Class," which is conducted online in the evening, has been increased from 100 to 150. A new “cross-attendance recognition system” also allows parents to attend programs offered by other regional education offices.
The curriculum has been structured into seven programs, taking into account the characteristics of each school level.
For elementary school, the classes cover healthy eating habits during growth and prevention of excessive gaming. The middle school courses address guidance in reading and correcting physical imbalances for children. High school courses focus on college entrance strategies and planning for winter break studies, while the Dalbit Parent Class offers lectures on mathematics instruction and increasing career flexibility.
Motivation for completion is also being strengthened. Those who faithfully complete the six-week course will be invited to a completion ceremony on November 27, and will receive incentives such as participation in the “Forest Healing Program” held at the Healing Forest of Seunghaksan in early December.
Parents who wish to enroll can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education Parent Support Portal starting September 15 at 10 a.m.
The total number of participants is 570, consisting of 140 in the elementary program, 210 in the middle school program, 70 in the high school program, and 150 in the Dalbit Parent Class. Details can be found on the Parent Support Portal and on the websites of each regional education office.
