Webtoon 'Geudai' Reborn as a Netflix Series
Starring Ryu Junyeol, Hong Kyung, Jung Hoyeon, Won Jian, and More
Netflix announced on September 11 that it will produce a new series titled 'Outback (working title)' featuring actors Ryu Junyeol, Hong Kyung, Jung Hoyeon, Won Jian, and Justin Min.
The story follows the search for the truth behind a family member's death in a foreign country. Based on the webtoon 'Geudai,' the series reconstructs the characters' backstories and relationships. It depicts the anxiety and growth of young people through the narrative of Sion, who heads to Australia after hearing of his sister Siyoung's sudden death and finds himself plunged into mystery.
Hong Kyung will play Sion, who travels to Australia to trace his sister's last footsteps; Won Jian takes on the role of Siyoung, the sister whose death triggers the story. Ryu Junyeol appears as the mysterious Minhyuk, at the center of all suspicions. Jung Hoyeon will portray Smiley, a creator who hosts live broadcasts in Australia, while Justin Min will play Scott, a Korean police officer.

The production team includes talent behind Netflix's previous hits. Director Han Junhee, who conceptualized the 'Weak Hero' series, will oversee the project as executive producer, while director Jeon Dookwan, who served as assistant director on D.P. Season 2, will direct. The screenplay will be co-written by writer Park Hyunwoo, known for 'Weak Hero Class 2,' and director Han Junhee.
