"Expanding Charitable Giving Through Trusts" Samsung Securities Signs MOU with KAIST Development Foundation
Customized Trust Solutions to Be Offered
On September 11, Samsung Securities announced that it had signed a business agreement with the KAIST Development Foundation to promote the culture of charitable giving by utilizing trusts.
This agreement was initiated to provide consulting and support to donors who wish to utilize Samsung Securities’ charitable trust product, Give You Trust, and its will-substitute trust inheritance donation solution. The aim is both to broaden access to these solutions and to further expand the culture of charitable giving enabled through such services.
Samsung Securities’ Give You Trust allows donors to receive tax deductions on their principal upon initial subscription. All investment gains generated during the trust period are also accrued to the donor. When the trust period ends, the principal is transferred to the designated recipient organization specified at the time of enrollment, making it a living donation trust product. The will-substitute trust inheritance donation solution enables donors to manage and control their assets during their lifetime while allowing the entire or partial estate to be donated according to predesignated terms after death.
Through this agreement, the two institutions have committed to active collaboration in designing customized living and will-substitute trust services that reflect the assets and needs of donors, as well as in providing comprehensive asset management consulting through financial, legal, and tax experts. The signing ceremony for the agreement was held at KAIST’s main building in Daejeon on September 8, attended by Jaeheung Han, Executive Director of the KAIST Development Foundation, Yena Kim, Head of Heritage Solutions at Samsung Securities, and other representatives from both sides.
Yena Kim, Head of Heritage Solutions, said, "Recently, there has been growing interest among clients in inheritance donations and trusts. These are quickly emerging as alternatives for carrying out donor intentions and achieving smooth intergenerational wealth succession. Based on Samsung Securities’ differentiated trust solutions and asset management expertise, we will deliver optimal financial services so that donors can give confidently and with peace of mind."
