HD Hyundai Robotics Invests 13 Billion Won in Startup to Implement Physical AI
Acquisition of a Stake in Aidin Robotics
HD Hyundai Robotics, the robot solutions specialist under HD Hyundai, is making a strategic investment to implement 'physical AI' and secure a foothold in future markets.
On September 11, HD Hyundai Robotics announced that it invested 13 billion won to acquire a stake in Aidin Robotics, a company specializing in robotic sensory technologies.
Aidin Robotics is a robotics company that develops sensor technologies for precise detection of tactile and force sensations in robots. The company independently designs and manufactures force and tactile sensors using capacitive measurement methods. These sensors are regarded as core components in humanoid robots due to their superior performance, cost competitiveness, and miniaturization advantages.
HD Hyundai Robotics plans to develop new products by combining its robot platform with Aidin Robotics' force and tactile sensor and control technologies. In addition, the company will develop a five-finger robotic hand specialized for shipbuilding and heavy industries, with plans to equip it on HD Hyundai Robotics' humanoid robots.

The two companies will also continue cooperation in the surface treatment automation business, which enables robots to perform tasks such as polishing and grinding that were previously carried out manually. They plan to jointly develop surface treatment automation solutions, initially applying them to shipbuilding and heavy industry worksites, then expanding the applications across the broader Korean manufacturing sector, and eventually extending to global manufacturing markets, including American shipyards.
