The case in which independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon has been accused of leaking investigation materials related to Kim Seung-won, nominee for Minister of Justice, has been assigned to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul.

View original imageOn September 10, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced that it is investigating the case in which Assemblyman Han has been accused of violating official secrecy, the Personal Information Protection Act, and the Act on the Management of Public Archives.
Earlier, Assemblyman Han claimed that the prosecution, which was investigating allegations that Kim sought approval for a new drug clinical trial, faced undue external pressure and ultimately suspended the indictment of Kim. Han then released the prosecution's indictment plan at the time, which was prepared by the prosecutors in charge.
Kim Dong-a, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea, filed a complaint with the National Office of Investigation at the National Police Agency on September 7, arguing that Assemblyman Han had disclosed official secrets by releasing the indictment plan document.

Meanwhile, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station is also handling a case in which Kim Seung-won has been accused of violating the Political Funds Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act in connection with the alleged lobbying for new drug clinical trial approval. The station is also investigating suspicions related to party membership dues involving Basic Income Party candidate Yong Hye-in, nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family.
