Export of 18 Cheonmu Rocket Launchers to Croatia Worth 640 Billion Won
Hanwha Aerospace Signs Export Contract On Site in Croatia
Hanwha Aerospace has exported 18 units of the domestically developed multiple rocket launcher Cheonmu to Croatia.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced on September 10 (local time) that a signing ceremony was held in Zagreb, Croatia, for the Cheonmu export contract between Hanwha Aerospace and the Croatian Ministry of Defense. The total export value is approximately 640 billion won (about 410 million euros) based on the contract amount.
With this, Croatia becomes the fourth European country to adopt Cheonmu, following Poland, Estonia, and Norway. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia have also introduced Cheonmu, but their procurements have not been officially disclosed.
This Cheonmu deal with Croatia marks the first large-scale defense industry cooperation between Korea and Croatia. DAPA expressed expectations that this contract will serve as an opportunity for bilateral defense cooperation to expand beyond the export of individual weapon systems to encompass industrial cooperation with local companies and follow-on logistical support, paving the way for long-term and strategic partnership.

The Cheonmu, a multiple rocket launcher system, has been deployed with the South Korean military since 2015 to counter threats from North Korea's rocket and long-range artillery, especially in times of contingency on the Korean Peninsula. It is capable of launching three types of rockets: 130mm (maximum range of about 36 kilometers), 239mm (about 80 kilometers), and 600mm (about 290 kilometers). Each launcher can be loaded with 40 rounds of 130mm, 12 rounds of 239mm, or 2 rounds of 600mm rockets.
