A police officer in Jeju, who was previously indicted and detained for falsely closing missing person reports, has now been referred to the prosecution on charges of trespassing into a women's restroom.
The Jeju Police Agency announced on September 10 that Sergeant Boo has been referred to the prosecution on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (entry into multi-use facilities for sexual purposes).
According to the police, Boo is accused of entering the women's restroom at the Jeju Seobu Police Station on July 22.
During the police investigation at that time, Boo reportedly explained, "There was no toilet paper in the men's restroom, so I used the women's restroom," and said that it was not for sexual purposes.
However, after reviewing Sergeant Boo's statement and the circumstances at the time, the police concluded that there is sufficient suspicion of entering the restroom for sexual reasons.
