The three institutions will work together to address local education issues beyond the boundaries of educational and general administration. In particular, the agreement specifically lists "designation as an Educational Innovation Leading Area and promotion of balanced regional development" as one of ten key cooperative tasks.
Main areas of cooperation include reducing educational gaps within the region, strengthening connections between local universities and industries, fostering regional talent, linking elementary and secondary education projects, preparing and consulting on the operational plan for the Educational Innovation Leading Area, establishing operation plans, and supporting education policies.
On the occasion of this agreement, Yangju City will officially commence preparations to apply for designation as an Educational Innovation Leading Area. From the application stage through future project implementation, the city plans to maintain close collaboration with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and the Dongducheon Yangju Office of Education.
Special focus will be placed on narrowing the educational gap between the eastern and western regions and expanding students' right to choose their educational paths. The plan also includes strengthening career and vocational education in connection with local universities and industries, as well as establishing a regional education cooperation system involving schools, the offices of education, local government, universities, and industry.
Mayor Jeong Deokyoung stated, "This agreement formalizes the cooperation system among the three institutions for the designation as an Educational Innovation Leading Area," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that students can enjoy diverse and high-quality educational opportunities in Yangju and to reduce regional educational disparities."
