Mirae Asset, Individual Net Purchases of TIGER US Nasdaq 100 ETF Surpass 2 Trillion Won Since Start of Year
'TIGER US Nasdaq 100' ETF, the longest-standing Nasdaq 100 Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) in Korea, has proven its overwhelming capital absorption power this year, with individual net purchases surpassing 2 trillion won.
According to Mirae Asset Global Investments on September 10, individual net purchases of the TIGER US Nasdaq 100 ETF since the beginning of this year totaled 2.1486 trillion won as of September 9, already exceeding last year's annual net purchase amount of 1.312 trillion won.
After surpassing 1 trillion won in May, the ETF went on to exceed 2 trillion won by August 21, just about three months later. Individual investors have continued net purchases for 29 consecutive trading days since July 30. The fund's net asset value stands at 11.418 trillion won, an increase of 4.0889 trillion won compared to the beginning of the year, ranking first among all Nasdaq 100 ETFs in Asia in terms of net assets.
The driving factor behind this capital inflow is attributed to the growing demand for long-term investment in major US indices. The Nasdaq 100 is a leading index distributing investments among large US technology and growth companies and includes many corporations leading growth industries such as artificial intelligence (AI). In particular, the TIGER US Nasdaq 100 ETF, along with the TIGER US S&P 500 ETF, is being used as a core asset for pension investments, as it enables investors to capitalize on the US long-term growth potential. A total of 6.7558 trillion won of individual capital has flowed into these two flagship US index ETFs (S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100) by TIGER this year.
The TIGER US Nasdaq 100 ETF has responded consistently to demand for investing in major US growth stocks throughout its long-term management in Korea. Since introducing Nasdaq 100 index investing to the domestic market in 2010, the accumulated performance of the Nasdaq 100 index has led to a return of over 1,600% since listing, with current net assets exceeding 11 trillion won.
