Kiwoom Securities Launches AI Development Environment... Releases MCP and Plugins
Kiwoom Securities announced on September 10 that it has completed a lineup of tools for users seeking to develop securities services using artificial intelligence (AI).
In collaboration with AI agent and AX specialist firm LiveData Co., Ltd., Kiwoom Securities has released the additional Model Context Protocol (MCP) and plugin features previously forecasted at the July launch of sample codes and CLI for domestic stocks.
With this release, Kiwoom Securities now officially offers all four key tools: sample code, CLI, MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, and AI coding tool plugins.
The public assets are available on Kiwoom Securities' official GitHub repository, while the CLI can be found on the official Python package repository, PyPI.
The CLI is a tool that processes prices, charts, accounts, and orders by entering commands into the terminal. The new update allows domestic and U.S. stocks to be managed in the same way. Installation and account registration each require only a single command line. During registration, a real query is run once to automatically verify that the system is operating as intended. Users can search for features in Korean, such as typing “trade completion” to find relevant commands. Real-time price reception and HeroMUN HTS condition searches are also supported. All queries for the MCP server and plugins are completed via the CLI.
The MCP is a standard that links AI to external tools. Major AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor are already using it. The newly released servers are offered in two types: the “finder server” listens to the features a user wishes to create, then finds the relevant APIs and executable sample code to hand over to the AI, which uses these as a base to generate new code. The “execution server” handles real data queries and order placements. Price and account inquiries are executed immediately, but order placements are only possible when the user has explicitly allowed them. If permission is not granted, the AI simply cannot create any order placement tools to try. Users do not need to differentiate between the two servers themselves; the AI interprets the intent of each request and selects the appropriate server. Authentication information does not pass through the chat window, and account numbers in query results are automatically masked.
The plugin is a bundle of commonly used tasks, arranged in advance and accessible with just one command. It consists of eight features and a command to open each screen: environment check, stock search, market overview, account status and holdings brief, portfolio diagnosis, order placement, and a function that allows users to create and add their own features as needed.
Multiple verification steps have been added to the order process. In the preview stage, no actual order request is sent. Once order confirmation is completed, the request is sent only once to prevent duplicates, and any order not processed within five minutes after confirmation is automatically voided.
For desktop users of Claude, an MCPB installation bundle is provided, which consolidates all settings into a single file. While MCP is a standard used by various AI tools, previously users had to open the settings file and enter the server path and execution command manually, meaning even a small syntax error could cause connection failures and make troubleshooting difficult. MCPB simplifies everything into one file; users can double-click or drag and drop the file to open the installation screen. The two server types are provided as separate bundles, so users can install only what they need. Only the execution server details need to be entered. It asks for three things: authentication info (App Key and App Secret), account type, and whether order features will be enabled. App Key and App Secret are entered in secure input fields that are not shown on the screen or saved in conversation history. Account type defaults to simulation, and order features are off by default, but these can be changed after installation.
The installation guide is written for the AI to read and execute, not for humans. If a user gives the AI the installation document URL and asks to “install it,” the AI will download necessary programs, configure settings, and verify the software is working, then report back. The only exception is that entering the App Key cannot be performed by the AI and requires user input.
