Seoul Arena Opens Applications for First 2027 Second-Half Bookings... Up to 28,000 Seats
Seoul Arena, which is set to open in the first half of next year, announced on September 10 that it would begin accepting the first official applications for 2027 second-half performance rentals from concert promoters and entertainment companies until September 18.
The venues available for booking are the main arena, which can accommodate up to 28,000 people, and a mid-sized performance hall with a capacity of about 7,000. Depending on the scale and type of performance—such as concerts, festivals, fan meetings, or showcases—each space can be used individually or in combination. The decision on venue allocation will be made after a review of the event schedule, content, organizational capabilities, and marketing plans.
Seoul Arena is a performance venue being constructed with Kakao as the lead investor. Upon completion, ownership of the facility will be transferred to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and operated for 30 years under a Build-Transfer-Operate (BTO) model by a business entity in which Kakao holds a stake.
The venue has been designed so that the seating and stage configuration can be adapted for musical performances. Features include retractable seating, LED seating systems, and advanced sound equipment. The ceiling is equipped with a large stage rigging system that allows for the installation of lighting, sound, and video equipment.
A route for transporting performance equipment in and out has also been provided. Trucks can enter the venue directly, allowing for seamless stage equipment load-ins, installations, and removals during the event preparation process.
Seoul Arena explained, "In preliminary on-site tours held for about 100 industry professionals between July and August, 93% of participants said they were more inclined to consider staging performances here after the tour." The arena added, "Participants showed particular interest in the scale and sight lines of the seating, stage facilities, and the potential for integrating the mid-sized hall."
Seoul Arena has been selected as the venue for the 2027 music festival "FANOMENON." Plans are also underway to attract major concerts and international artist tours to coincide with its grand opening.
