Creating a Refined Space
On September 9, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks began an initiative to improve its rest environments and enhance employee satisfaction with welfare facilities by transforming the windows of on-site cafeterias into art galleries.
This improvement targeted the Sunkang Restaurant and Rolling Mill Restaurant, focusing on creating gallery-type spaces where employees can appreciate artwork through the windows from inside the cafeterias. This allows employees to enjoy art during meal and break times, providing a more pleasant and refined space for relaxation.

View original imageThe artworks were installed using transparent sheets that offer double-sided visibility and vivid color representation. The design also enables appreciation of the artworks while still allowing views of the exterior scenery.
To begin with, Sunkang Restaurant features prints by Henri Matisse and works by Wassily Kandinsky. By presenting these pieces in vibrant colors that contrast with the surrounding landscape, a rich and aesthetic atmosphere has been created.
At the Rolling Mill Restaurant, transparent sheets depict Vincent van Gogh's floral and vase paintings as well as works by Piet Mondrian. These installations provide employees with ever-changing images that shift with the weather and natural light. In particular, Piet Mondrian’s art, constructed with bold lines and planes, harmonizes with the window frames to striking effect.
