New Republican Super PAC Emerges... $258 Million Invested in Key Battlegrounds in a Single Day
NYT: Linked to Trump Super PAC "Maga Inc."
With less than two months to go before the U.S. midterm elections, a newly established Republican-aligned super PAC (political action committee) has spent $25.8 million on political ads in just one day across seven key battlegrounds.
The New York Times (NYT) reported on September 9 (local time), citing two sources familiar with the matter, that a new super PAC named 'No Going Back PAC Inc.' entered into major advertising contracts on September 8 targeting seven key federal congressional battlegrounds.
No Going Back was founded on September 1 by Republican political operative Charles Gantt. According to the NYT, Gantt is an election finance specialist who has managed paperwork for political groups associated with U.S. President Donald Trump, including his main super PAC, 'Maga Inc.'
The NYT noted that this organization is linked to President Trump's camp, but the reason for setting up a new super PAC separately remains unclear. However, it pointed out that the timing of the establishment allows the group to withhold disclosure of documents containing information on major funders and the foundation of the organization until mid-October.
No Going Back states on its website that it makes independent expenditures in federal elections to support candidates who share the values of its founders and backers.
The areas where this group placed advertisements include six states with federal Senate races—New Hampshire, Alaska, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, and Georgia—as well as Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district, where a federal House race is being held. The total amount of ad spending contracted on September 8 alone reached $25.8 million, with some commercials beginning to air from September 9.
According to media tracking firm AdImpact, the largest portion of the spending was allocated to New Hampshire's Senate race. New Hampshire received $9.6 million, with roughly $7.7 million also spent in Alaska. These two states have relatively low population densities, allowing for repeated ad exposure to voters at a comparatively modest cost.
Particular attention has been drawn to the fact that No Going Back is linked to Maga, President Trump's main super PAC. Although Maga holds about $400 million in cash, it has previously been relatively passive in supporting the midterm general election.

However, it has recently begun investing funds more aggressively. On September 5, Maga spent $10 million to support Republican candidate Ken Paxton in the Texas federal Senate race. This marked the first instance of Maga committing a substantial amount to the midterm general election, aiming to bolster Paxton, who was behind Democratic candidate James Talarico in fundraising.
