Launched last year, the project will receive a total investment of 8,407,000,000 won (8.407 billion won) by 2030, with Goyang City contributing 100 million won annually.
Next, the committee reviewed the implementation plan for the 'Ultra-Complex System Analysis AI-Based Mental Disorder Causal Inference Research Center' project. This is a national research initiative to develop technology capable of predicting the onset and recurrence of mental disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, as well as suicide risk, by combining university research capabilities with large-scale science, technology, and AI infrastructure. Starting this month, the project will receive a total investment of 12,450,000,000 won (12.45 billion won) over six years, with Goyang City scheduled to provide a total of 150 million won.
After receiving the project briefings, the committee members visited the Dongguk University HDI Center to tour advanced research equipment and facilities. They also discussed industry-academic cooperation strategies for sharing research outcomes with local companies and connecting them to the development of the bio-medical industry and the improvement of citizens' quality of life.
Chair Shin Inseon stated, "The research capabilities and advanced infrastructure of Dongguk University will play a vital role in securing future growth engines for Goyang City."
Vice Chair Ko Deokhee said, "We will continue to pay close attention and provide support so that collaboration with local universities and the expansion of research and development infrastructure for nurturing future industries can proceed without setbacks."
