On September 9, Gumi City officially appointed Lee Sunmin as a promotional ambassador during a pre-event for the '2026 Gumi Local Food Festa' held at Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall.
Currently gaining popularity through YouTube and TV shows, Lee Sunmin is expected to promote the city’s brand by leveraging her cheerful, approachable image and affection for her hometown.
Since June, Lee Sunmin has maintained communications with Gumi City and had already greeted residents through an interview in the municipal newsletter "Gumi Sidae." She will continue to participate in major festivals and events, as well as contribute to the production of promotional content highlighting the city’s cultural and tourism assets, and municipal initiatives.
The appointment ceremony featured a unique commemorative plaque symbolizing Gumi’s city identity. A 'semiconductor wafer' plaque was presented, representing the city’s status as a leading hub for advanced industries in Korea. In addition, a giant instant noodle cup based on the Gumi Ramen Festival poster was given.
Gumi City expects Lee Sunmin’s public recognition and warm personality to help showcase Gumi’s diverse appeal, not only as a center of semiconductor and advanced industries but also as a destination where festivals and tourism thrive together.
