Incheon Special Judicial Police Launches Special Investigation into Five Key Everyday Sectors Including Food and Pharmaceuticals
On September 9, Incheon City’s Special Judicial Police announced that they will conduct a two-month special investigation during September and October, targeting five sectors closely related to citizens’ daily lives. The purpose is to preemptively crack down on illegal activities that threaten the safety and health of citizens.
The areas of special investigation include: ▲Illegal coastal and inshore fishing ▲Violations related to country of origin and livestock products during the Chuseok holiday season ▲Illegal distribution of pharmaceuticals ▲Unlawful emission of air pollutants from wood processing facilities ▲Sale of hazardous substances to minors within sports stadiums.
First, as fishing activities become more active in the fall, the authorities will focus on illegal coastal and inshore fishing. The investigation will center on unlicensed or unauthorized fishing, the use of illegal fishing gear, and the illegal distribution and sale of catches.
Additionally, with the consumption of agricultural and livestock products expected to rise ahead of Chuseok, efforts will be strengthened to monitor food safety at multi-use facilities, nearby restaurants, and livestock product establishments. Major targets include the mislabeling or deceptive labeling of the country of origin, as well as violations concerning hygiene or labeling standards for livestock products.
In pharmaceutical wholesalers and pharmacies, authorities will inspect for illegal distribution activities such as the sale of medicines by unqualified individuals and the handling of expired pharmaceuticals.
Furthermore, facilities such as wood processing businesses will be investigated for compliance with air environment regulations, particularly the proper management of pollutant emission and prevention systems.
Investigations at sports stadiums and surrounding areas will focus on violations of prohibitions against youth entrance and employment, as well as the sale of hazardous substances and products to minors.
