The supported schools included Jangryang Elementary School in Pohang, Jinsang Elementary School in Gwangyang, and Miyan Elementary School, Youngshin Elementary School, Sangshin Elementary School, Sadang Elementary School, Susong Elementary School, and Cheondong Elementary School in Seoul, making a total of eight locations.
After receiving applications in April, POSCO selected the schools by taking into account the age of the buildings, the number of students requiring special education, and the history of government support. Construction was carried out during the summer break so that the new classrooms could be used from the second semester onward.
The remodeling reflected the daily needs of students and on-site feedback from teachers. Safety and convenience were enhanced by reinforcing floor cushioning and heating facilities, and providing wall cushions, psychological comfort areas, and additional storage space.
A POSCO official stated, "We focused on providing a safe and pleasant educational environment for students while reducing the administrative burden related to remodeling for teachers," adding, "We will continue to support on-site needs in the future."
