This agreement was established for the three organizations to jointly respond to the competition for designation as an Educational Innovation Leading Area and to create a locally tailored model of educational innovation that reflects the conditions and educational needs of Pocheon.
Under the agreement, the three organizations will jointly prepare an operation plan for the Educational Innovation Leading Area and support the operation of the "Pocheon-Style EBS Self-Directed Learning Center." In addition to enhancing students' self-directed learning capabilities, they will also work together on projects aimed at closing educational gaps and easing the financial burden of private after-school education expenses.
Pocheon City plans to incorporate educational content and learning programs provided by EBS into local educational settings to create an environment where students can study independently. In cooperation with the Pocheon Office of Education, the initiative will strengthen the implementation of projects by connecting schools and local educational resources.
The city has held work meetings with the Pocheon Office of Education, conducted surveys, regional policy forums, and operated the Pocheon Educational Innovation Council to identify the needs of students, parents, and the educational field. The collected opinions will be reflected in the operation plan for the Educational Innovation Leading Area and in detailed projects.
Mayor Baek Younghyun of Pocheon stated, "This agreement represents a commitment by the local community, educational institutions, and public broadcasting to expand EBS's self-directed learning programs in the region and provide Pocheon's children with diverse learning opportunities."
He added, "I will do my utmost to ensure that Pocheon becomes both a leading city in educational innovation that attracts people for education and a model for education that we can proudly present nationwide."
