He added, "When high-level intelligence can carry out tasks to completion, seamlessly connect with existing systems, and operate within the security and control frameworks required by businesses, both the speed and depth of adoption have increased."
He noted that Korean companies and institutions are expanding the adoption of ChatGPT Enterprise. According to Kim, as of the end of last month, the scale of ChatGPT Enterprise adoption in Korea, based on the number of users, was about 28 times larger than in the same period the previous year, while the number of weekly active domestic users for ChatGPT Work and Codex increased 14-fold compared to March.
Over the past year, the range of AI applications among Korean companies has expanded. An increasing number of job functions—including legal, sales, finance, marketing, and operations—are leveraging AI, while the role of AI within a single workflow now encompasses everything from research and analysis to delivering results, software development, and work automation. For example, Samsung Electronics has implemented ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex for employees worldwide, utilizing the technology in research and development, marketing, and production management. Seoul National University has introduced ChatGPT Edu, broadening the foundation for AI use among roughly 50,000 faculty and students. OpenAI anticipates that the next-generation frontier model, GPT-6 Astra, unveiled on September 4, will handle even more complex core business tasks within organizations.
OpenAI strengthens its partner ecosystem for AI adoption in Korea
OpenAI also announced that it is reinforcing its collaborative ecosystem with Korean companies. A wide range of domestic companies—including leading system integration (SI) firms, managed service providers (MSPs), and AI startups—are participating in the OpenAI Partner Network.

Currently, ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and API customers can use data residency options, enabling storage of customer content within Korea.
OpenAI also plans to launch a new "Daybreak Partners" initiative for cybersecurity. The company aims to select more than five Daybreak Partners and expand collaboration so that domestic companies can enhance their capabilities to detect, verify, and respond to security vulnerabilities using AI. Samsung SDS is participating as the first domestic company in the pilot phase of the Daybreak Partner program.
OpenAI recently expanded its dedicated ChatGPT advertising team in Korea to support local advertisers and advertising agencies. Since the introduction of ChatGPT advertising in Korea in June, its global annualized sales have reached USD 1 billion (approximately KRW 1,345 billion). Kim explained, "The process of users searching for products and services and comparing options on ChatGPT is becoming a new point of contact between companies and customers."

Kim also noted, "Over the past year, we seem to have achieved our goals in two areas: enabling Korean companies to use GPT effectively and maintaining solid growth in the number of weekly active domestic users. Going forward, we will help more Korean companies, institutions, and organizations leverage the most advanced AI technology."
