Focusing on newly emerging topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) transition, cybersecurity, and stablecoins, a gathering was held for corporate audit committee members to discuss future supervisory directions.
On September 9, the Audit Committee Forum announced that the 2nd Regular Forum for 2026 will be held on October 23 at the Westin Josun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, under the theme "Three Major Digital Issues Audit Committees Should Pay Attention To."
The Audit Committee Forum is a non-profit organization jointly established in 2018 by the four major accounting firms in Korea—Samil, Samjong, Ahnjin, and Hanyoung—to enhance accounting transparency and strengthen the expertise of auditors and audit committee members.
In the first session of the event, which will be conducted as a breakfast seminar, Lim Jongin, Professor Emeritus at Korea University, will present on the theme "AI Transition, the Advent of the Agentic Economy, and Cyber Security." He will examine the nature of cyber security risks faced by companies, discuss key challenges from a supervisory perspective, and suggest response strategies audit committees should consider.
The second session will feature Lee Seunghwan, AX Node Leader (Partner) at Samil PwC, who will analyze the impact of generative AI on financial reporting and work processes under the theme "Financial Reporting in the AI Era and Changes in How We Work." Next, Lee Jaehyuk, Head of the Virtual Asset Specialization Center at Samil PwC, will discuss "Trends in the Institutionalization of Stablecoins," covering recent developments in digital asset regulations and key implications that audit committees should pay attention to.
